Time Flies
I used to laugh at one of my sisters because she would post on her blog like twice a year. Well...I can't laugh anymore. It has been months since I have posted and it hasn't been for lack of excitement in my life. I have had so many things happen that I could write about. Life has just been busy. One of my good friends told me that now that I am married, life shoudn't be so busy...I don't know that I agree with that. I feel as if my life has just taken on a little more craziness and busyness. I love being busy though, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
To start things off, after 2 1/2 years of dating, Chris and I got married on June 27. It was a beautiful affair. We had an outdoor bbq the night before the wedding and an outdoor reception the night of. Being in June, I thought the weather would be perfect...until the wierd thunderstorms started coming through. We had thunderstorms and pouring rain every day for about 4 weeks prior to my wedding. I must have been doing something right though because the night of the bbq it just sprinkled a little bit and then the day of the wedding was absolutely beautiful! The weather was perfect. My mom and her sister (who decorates weddings) did a phenomenal job of decorating and everything couldn't have looked more beautiful. We were married in the Mount Timpanogos Temple and then we had the reception in my parents' backyard. Up until the wedding everyone kept telling me that something always goes wrong on your wedding day. My story of what went wrong turned out to be pretty funny actually. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to make lists. If I have anything important or I need to remember a lot of things, the list notebook comes out and I get everything all ready to be checked off. The night before our wedding, I made sure that I wouldn't forget to take anything to the temple where we were getting married and so I made a list and got it all ready. I left to go to the wedding feeling pretty confident in myself that I had everything and then right as I was pulling into the parking lot, I realized I had forgotten Chris' ring. We didn't have time to go back and get it and so my dad said he would take care of everything. He went around the wedding party asking for everyone's rings, we found one that fit, and decided to use it. (Thanks Tyler) It was no big deal, we would just switch the rings after we got home. During the wedding ceremony, the sealer marrying us asked if we had rings to exchange. I smirked a little and said yes. Seeing my smirk he turned to Chris and said, "Oh no, you didn't forget her ring did you?" Knowing what had really happened, everyone else there just busted up laughing and we had to explain that it wasn't him that had forgotten my ring, it was me that forgot his. I don't know if you had to be there to think it was funny, but we still joke about it. Really though, I think one of the best parts of the day for me was being able to share such a wonderful, happy day with all the people that I love. Chris and I both had a lot of family fly in and I also had a couple of friends come a long way to be here with us. It just made the day that much better. I loved it!
Everything since then has been a whirlwind! If I told you about everything that has happened since, it would take way too long. I will, however, make a top ten list of things we have done since then and include a lengthy picture show...for those that just can't get enough of my life.
1. We went on a really fun Honeymoon to Las Vegas. We spent way too much money on spa treatments and gelato but had a blast. On our way home we even got to stop and have dinner with my cousin Julia and her husband Ken, which was an added bonus.
2. After we got back from our honeymoon, we still had all of our family in town. We spend the next couple of weeks catching up with them and having a fun time. We went up to pioneer park where all of the kids had fun riding the train, making crafts, and dancing. We also go to go on a couple of hikes and just have fun being together.
3. We went to Huntington Beach, California, with some of the my family. It was a lot of fun to lay around on the beach, boogie board, and relax before school started again.
4. I took the time to introduce Chris to the wonderful world of city days here in Utah County. All of the cities around here have a couple of days where they have carnivals and parades and big celebrations during the summer. It is always one of my favorite things to hit as many as we can. I think we made it to 3 this summer where we ate a lot of corndogs and strawberries of cream, watched fireworks, played carnival games, and just had some small town fun.
5. We celebrated Chris' 24 birthday in August! I decided that I wanted to make him a really good cake. It was probably the most delicious cake I have ever made... We also went to Flemings for a really yummy dinner! I love you Chris!
6. School started again. I am in my 5th year of teaching 2nd grade and Chris started his last year at BYU doing his undergrad. It has only been 2 1/2 months and I have already managed to get 2 of my students to move making my huge class this year not quite so huge.
7. Chris and I had some fun camping this year. I think the favorite trip we took was to Strawberry Reservoir. Chris and his buddies went crawdad hunting and ate something around 50 crawdads. I ate 0.
8. We also spent some time climbing. Chris met a new friend in one of his classes last year who is an avid climber and puts up some of the routes in the canyons around here. They climbed like crazy this summer. I went as often as I could. We discovered a lot of new places to climb and had a lot of fun.
9. I have now decided to start up a new hobby. I just finished taking a cake decorating class with my good friend Kara. I don't love eating cake though. Many people benefitted.
10. I am teaching a rock unit at school right now and decided that it would be really fun to go geode hunting on my days off of school a couple weeks ago. What was I thinking? We found a place online that everyone said they were finding more geodes than they even wanted and it was only 2 hours away. We packed up and headed out. It took 3 1/2 hours of driving my not-so-off-roading-vehicle on off-roading-roads to get there and we didn't find any geodes. I will not be geode hunting again anytime soon.
11. Two of Chris' brother's wives (my sisters-in-law) have had babies in the last few weeks. We have spent a lot of time lately holding them. I love how small they are right now.
12.Because of those new babies, Chris and I have been spending a lot of time with their families. We had a fun time carving pumpkins with our 3 neices for Halloween. We even got to take them trick-or-treating last night. Neither Chris or I had been since we were little and it was so much fun. The girls were getting cold and tired and at one point wanted to go home but Chris and I were having so much fun that we convinced them that they didn't want to stop yet.
Maybe that wasn't a top ten, but who's counting? I am just so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family around to keep me busy! We'll have to wait to see what the future brings to the Sorensen family, hopefully I'll write about it sooner than later.

So much time and so little to do with it...
Between the wedding and finishing another school year (I teach 2nd grade) I have found it difficult to find the time to update my blog or keep up with the blogs of friends and family. I recently moved home and thought that would free me up some time, but no luck, I seem to have gotten busier. Chris went to Berlin for a couple of weeks to visit his parents and I thought to myself, now I am going to have some time to update my blog. Well, he comes back in a few days and I am sitting at my parents house on a Sunday afternoon with nothing to do but update my blog or put addresses into the computer for invitations and I guess you all know what won the battle today. Invitation addresses can wait another day. The thing is, for as busy as I have been, there is not a whole lot to say. Wedding plans are going smoothly thanks to a mother who has done this so many times that she has got it down to an art. (I'm her 7th daughter to get married.) My adorable roommates threw me a very fun bridal shower yesterday and I got to see a lot of old friends that I haven't seen in way too long. School only has 2 weeks left and we had a very successful hike/day up the canyon on Friday. Chris comes home in exactly a week and I can't wait to see him. My really good friend just gave me a nice couch because she redecorated her house and got a new one. If you haven't heard about the disgusting couch that Chris and I have sitting in our apartment right now because we don't have money to buy a new one, I'll just leave it by saying, I am definitely extremely thankful for the new couch. For being such a busy time in my life, I am lucky to have some really great friends and family who are there to help me out and keep me going.

BIG NEWS!!!
I didn't want to post about this until I had called everyone that I wanted to call and now that I feel I have, I thought I would just let everyone else know the good news. CHRIS AND I ARE FINALLY GETTING MARRIED! After dating for 2 years, you can imagine that we probably got asked a lot about why we aren't married yet and when we planned on getting married. I can officially say now that the day is getting closer. I scheduled the Mt. Timpanogos Temple yesterday and we will be saying 'I Do' on June 27, 2009.
Chris has wanted to get married for a while now and being the indecisive one that I am, I needed more time to figure things out. We started really talking about getting married over Christmas break and went looking at rings. I wanted Chris to pick out the ring but I gave him suggestions of what I liked and then began waiting. Those who know me well, know that I can't keep a secret to save my life and something as big as this was eating away at me so I continued to pressure Chris. We were thinking maybe June and I wanted to let others know because my siblings were starting to plan a trip to Utah and I wanted them to be here for the wedding, so we decided that we better get a move on things. Last Saturday, January 24, Chris and I went up to a close friend's house for dinner with all of my girlfriends and their husbands. One of my other good girlfriends had gotten engaged so we were talking all about her wedding and everything and I will admit that I was feeling a little jealous. Then we left late and decided that we would head over to my sister Amy's house to watch a movie. On our way to Amy's, we passed a park where Chris and I have spent a lot of time walking around and talking and he decided that he wanted to take a walk. Normally, I wouldn't have thought anything strange about this, but on this particular night, it was pouring...a lot. Having a feeling that there was something going on, I put aside my usual whining and decided to go along with it. We began walking around the beautiful park, me in my giant puffy brown coat with the hood that goes down past my eyes and he without a coat or anything. Despite the rain it was a beautiful night. The duck pond was frozen over and the ducks and geese were walking across it and the sound of the rain was very calming. We walked for a little while and then Chris told me that in the park was the first place he ever knew that he loved me. He told me other cute things and then asked me to marry him. It was very romantic and perfect!
It took me a long time to decide where our relationship was going to go but I am now so grateful for Chris. I am always so encouraged by him to try and learn new things and be a better person. He helps me through hard times. He keeps me grounded (which is no easy task). He makes me laugh. He has the brain of nerd (which I have always been very attracted to). He loves to take care of me. He is an amazing chef. He is very handy at fixing things. He rock climbs with me. He has been there for the last 2 years and I can't imagine not having him there in the future.

LOST!!!
I have an addiction to the TV show Lost. It all started this past summer when my sister Amy and I decided to watch Lost from the first episode to the last. We both teach school and so we didn't have anything else to do. We were joined by her husband Robbie, Chris, and our friends Art and Rob C. When the new season started we got the group back together for a Lost party! I love addictions!

Good Company and Some Bubble Gum
A couple of weeks ago, I spent the night up at my Grandma and Grandpa Larsen's house. My cousin, Sherrie, moved to Washington D.C. and so we got together with our other cousin, Paul, to have a fun night before she left. We went to dinner to start off the night and then ended up at my grandparents' house. I love bubble gum and quite often will have a pack of Hubba Bubba in my purse. We all started chewing to see who could blow the biggest bubble. After watching and laughing for a little while, my cute spunky grandma decided that she needed to join in on the fun and what resulted is a really great memory that I will probably keep with me always.
